Selected experience / Thunder Bay & the fleet

Vessel knowledge.
Practical judgment.

From naval systems to an independent assessment of a historic Great Lakes tug, Justin Winkelmann’s experience connects physical condition, technical documentation and decisions about what comes next.

Hull survey.
Clear recommendations.

Justin completed the hull survey and consultation report for the historic James Whalen tug in Thunder Bay. He also provided the municipality with direction on practical disposal options associated with the vessel’s salvage and disposition.

The assignment called for more than a list of defects: it required translating hull observations into information that could inform decisions about the vessel’s future.
